Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the 2019 Yorkshire Marathon in memory of my father, who suffered with epilepsy for most of his life, and to help support Epilepsy Action and raise awareness to this condition. For many years, my father did not have the benefit of support from amazing organisations such as Epilepsy Action, and I would like to help them continue the fantastic support they provide to people with epilepsy.

Epilepsy Action is a UK charity providing information, advice and support for people with epilepsy. It provides freephone and email helplines and a wide range of information booklets. It has around 100 local support groups across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and a network of volunteers working in the community.

Around 87 people are diagnosed with epilepsy every day. Over 500,000 people in the UK have epilepsy; that's about one in every 100 people. There are around 60 million people with epilepsy in the world.
